"The Final Run" Salmon Upstream Runs at Hewick Meadows Park

From early September to late October (sometimes early November), Atlantic Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon and Chinook Salmon migrates upstream from Ontario's Great Lakes.

The species run to the areas of their birth to reproduce (spawn). What is even more interesting is, that they cease feeding during the run, and use only store body mass to generate energy.

Once arrived at spawning grounds, many of them will die even before reproducing, exhausted from the upstream migration.

Hewick Meadows Park is located in Mississauga , Ontario. It offers riverfront paths, wild life and great landscape views.
